#Buying and platforms

How much does Kan Do cost? It's a one-time purchase on the App Store. That single purchase covers Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Vision Pro, Apple TV, and Apple Watch. There are no in-app purchases and no subscription.

Do I need an account? No. There's no sign-up and no login. Your data lives on your devices and, if you turn on sync, in your own iCloud.

Is there a web version or Windows version? No. Kan Do is native to Apple platforms only.

Can I share a board with someone else? No. Kan Do is a personal tool. Sync is between your own devices under one Apple Account.

#Sync and data

How does sync work? Through your iCloud account. Turn on iCloud Sync in Settings ▸ Sync on each device and restart. See iCloud Sync.

Does Kan Do collect any data? No. No analytics, no trackers, no third-party services. See the privacy policy.

Where are my backups? Kan Do keeps a daily local snapshot on each device, and iCloud holds a copy of everything that has synced. Export projects as files for something you can hold. See Backups and Recovery.

Can I get my data out? Yes. Export any project to a .kandoproj file, export a task's attachments, print notes, or let a connected AI assistant read your tasks. See Import and Export.

Can I import from Reminders, Things, Todoist, or Trello? Reminders, yes, from Settings ▸ Import. For the others, export to text or CSV and use a Shortcut with the Add Task action, or ask an AI assistant connected through MCP to build the boards for you.

#Using the app

What happens when I complete a task? It stays on the board crossed out, or moves to the archive, depending on the Task Completion setting, which you can set app-wide and per project. See Archive.

Why isn't a task in the Inbox anymore? You gave it a date. The Inbox holds tasks with no project and no date; a dated task moves to Today or Upcoming. See Smart Lists.

Why is a task in Today when it's due Friday? It has a start date that has arrived. Tasks stay in Today from their start date through their due date and only go red when the due date passes. See Dates and Repeating Tasks.

Can columns be sorted automatically? Yes. Each column's … menu has Sort By: Manual, Due Date, Creation Date, Priority, or Title. See Boards and Columns.

Can I nest tags? Yes, as deep as you like. Right-click a tag and choose New Nested Tag. See Tags.

Can I make my own smart lists? Yes. + ▸ New Smart List in the sidebar. See Custom Smart Lists.

Does the note support Markdown? You type Markdown shortcuts and they turn into formatting as you go. There's no .md import or export. See The Notes Editor.

Can I change the app icon? On iPhone and iPad, yes: Settings ▸ Appearance ▸ Theme ▸ App Icon. See Appearance.

#Integrations

Does it work with Siri? Yes. On iOS 27 and macOS 27 Siri understands Kan Do tasks natively. On any version, phrases like "Add a task to Kan Do" work. See Siri.

Does it work with Shortcuts? Yes, with actions to add, edit, find, complete, and open tasks and projects. See Shortcuts.

Are there widgets? Home Screen, desktop, and Lock Screen widgets, plus a Control Center button and Watch complications. See Widgets.

What's the AI assistant thing? A built-in connector on the Mac that lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other MCP-capable assistants read and manage your tasks. See AI Assistants (MCP).

Does it put tasks on my calendar? No. Kan Do has its own Calendar view of your tasks and doesn't write to the Calendar app. See Calendar.
