Privacy Policy

Kan Do is built so that your tasks are nobody's business but yours. This page explains what the app does and doesn't do with your data.

The short version

• Kan Do has no accounts and no sign-in.
• Kan Do contains no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking code.
• Your data lives on your devices and, if you turn on sync, in your own iCloud account. I never see it and cannot access it.

What the app stores

Everything you create in Kan Do (spaces, projects, columns, tasks, notes, tags, attachments, and settings) is stored in the app's database on your device. If you turn on Sync in Settings, that database is mirrored to your private iCloud database through Apple's CloudKit service, so your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account can read it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's privacy policy.

Kan Do also keeps local daily backups of its database on each device so you can recover if something goes wrong. Those backups stay on the device.

Optional features that touch other data

• Notifications. If you allow notifications, reminders are scheduled locally on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
• Photos, Files, and the camera. When you add a cover image or attachment, the picture or file you choose is copied into your Kan Do database. The app does not browse your library on its own.
• Apple Reminders import. If you choose to import from Reminders, Kan Do reads the lists you pick, once, to create tasks. It does not keep ongoing access.
• Calendar, Siri, Shortcuts, Spotlight, and widgets. These read your Kan Do data on your device to show or act on your tasks. They do not send it anywhere.
• AI assistants (MCP connector). The connector runs on your Mac and gives an assistant you set up (such as Claude or ChatGPT) access to your tasks. What that assistant does with the data is governed by its own privacy policy. The connector is off unless you configure it.

What I collect

Nothing. Kan Do sends no usage data, crash data, or identifiers to me or to anyone else. If you write to me through the contact form, I receive your name, email address, and message, delivered to my inbox by Cloudflare, and I use them only to reply to you.

The App Store may share anonymous, aggregated statistics with developers (such as download counts) and, if you opt in on your device, crash reports. That is controlled by Apple and by your own device settings.

This website

kandotasks.app is a static site hosted on Cloudflare. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics scripts. The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam, which may set a cookie for that check while you are on the support page. Cloudflare may log standard connection details (such as IP address and request time) to keep the service running, as described in Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Children

Kan Do is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted here with the date below.
